Are you squashed?

Organisations are like a layer of pancakes – each level supports the next.  Sometimes when you are in the middle of the layers, you feel squashed.

Some of the symptoms of too many layers are:
  • Managers spend time doing the jobs of their team
  • You have report to someone but if you really need help with your work, you go to their boss for help
  • You have to manage a team but it feels like the CEO is ‘miles away’
